PARENT CONCERNS & CURRENT STAFF
Questions and ConcernsIf you have questions or concerns about the program please be sure to talk with your child's teacher. If you need more information, the director is available to meet with you to discuss your concerns. Because our directors also teach, it is best to schedule these meetings for the afternoon. Some policies or questions may need to be directed to the Executive Director or the Education Director. Please feel free to call on them whenever you have a concern which the teacher or site director is unable to fully answer. The Board of Directors is also available to hear concerns. The Secretary of the board has been designated as the contact for parents with problems or concerns.Education DirectorOur Education Director is charged with promoting kindergarten-readiness according to public school guidelines, as well as upholding the educational philosophy of Open Door. Other responsibilities of the Education Director include, developing effective assessment tools for tracking children's progress, coordinating the curricula of our two schools, improving communication between families and teaching staff, and encouraging families to take an active role in their children's education. Our Education Director serves half time at both schools and holds a Masters Degree in Child Development and Family Relationshhips and a Masters of Science and Social Work.Social WorkerEach site has a half-time Social Worker, devoted to serving the needs of all the families at the Open Door. The Social Worker will meet with each family when they first enroll. Parents can contact the Social Worker at any time with their concerns. The Social Worker can provide parents with information and referrals, short-term crisis counseling, family support, and emergency food and clothing. The Social Worker is available to all families, regardless of their income level. |
